“Beautiful, Wonderful” brings Afrobeat rhythm together with the uplifting sound of American gospel. Joseph Opare wrote it after returning to Ghana around 2022, starting with a chorus he could hear in his head—something that felt right at home being sung in church with backing vocals.
The chorus is a joyful declaration: “Beautiful, Wonderful, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Counselor Emmanuel, God with us, it’s you we seek.” Fega Michaels takes the song to another level with her Naija Pidgin rap, adding a fresh burst of energy and Nigerian flavour to its message of praise.

“Dance Like David” is made to get you on your feet. Joseph Opare brings together Middle Eastern influences, Afrobeat rhythms and a touch of the dramatic spaghetti Western atmosphere of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Fega Michaels takes the lead with her rap, lifting the energy and driving the song forward. The message is simple: dance like David. It’s a joyful invitation to get up, praise and put your whole heart into it.

“His Mercies Endureth Forever” began as a ballad, but Joseph Opare felt the powerful words needed a different kind of energy. Reworking the song with a Latin beat gave it the lift he’d been looking for.
Drawing from 2 Chronicles 20, the song recalls the singers who went ahead of Judah’s army in praise before their enemies turned against one another. For Joseph, that story carries a bold message: praise is a powerful weapon in spiritual battles.
With a melody he could hear in his head and words drawn from Scripture, Joseph turns that message into an invitation to move, give thanks and face life’s battles with faith.

“I Will Praise the Lord” takes Joseph Opare back to morning prayers and Scripture Union gatherings in Ghana during the 1980s, when he first became a Christian. Reworking a familiar chorus from those days, he brings those memories into a joyful highlife praise song, with Nicky Brown on keyboards.
The recording brought a special collaboration across cultures. Backing singers David and Tiffany Spencer worked closely with Joseph to get the Twi pronunciation right, exchanging messages and practising until it clicked—and growing to love the song along the way.
A percussion break adds another burst of energy, capturing the feel of a Ghanaian church praise session. It’s an invitation to join in, move your feet and sing with gratitude.

“I’ll Be There” brings the laid-back warmth of ’70s and ’80s soul to a message of faith and encouragement. Inspired by artists like The Spinners, Joseph Opare wanted to make a song that lifts your spirits and reminds you that you’re never facing life alone.
Tee Mogano carries the song on lead vocals, giving voice to its reassuring promise: “When you call me, I’ll be there.” During a break, Joseph steps in with a spoken reflection on remembering the goodness of the Most High—and how that gratitude can make you get up and dance.
Soulful, comforting and full of hope, “I’ll Be There” invites you to look back at what you’ve come through and find a reason to keep going.

“In Your Presence” draws on a country R&B gospel sound, with a melody Joseph Opare wanted listeners to remember and carry with them. Inspired by artists like BeBe Winans, the song brings a warm, heartfelt feel to its invitation to draw closer to the Lord.
It became the album’s title track because it captures the purpose behind the whole project: to usher people into God’s presence. At its heart is a simple desire—to help listeners connect with the Lord through music.

“King Yashua” grew from Joseph Opare’s desire to explore a different sound. Inspired by the musical adventurousness of artists like Seal and Micah Stampley, he followed an idea with a slightly medieval feel, creating something distinctive that could still be sung in church.
At its heart is a declaration of the greatness of King Yeshua: “King Yeshua, Christ Messiah, I know you saved my soul.” The song brings a personal expression of gratitude into a chorus people can sing together.

“Lord I Need You” draws inspiration from Tonex and Kirk Franklin, turning a personal cry for help into a heartfelt worship song. Joseph Opare originally wrote it to sing himself, but realised it needed a different lead voice.
That voice arrived unexpectedly when his American friend T-Rock rang the doorbell. Joseph asked him to try the song, and his delivery reminded Joseph so much of Ronald Isley that he couldn’t help laughing with delight. T-Rock took the lead, while Joseph sang backing vocals.
“When the lights go dim and I think about you, I need you” captures its message: reaching for the Lord when life feels dark and difficult. It’s an honest expression of dependence, finding hope in the One you can turn to when words are hard to find.

“Walking On Water” arrived near the end of writing In Your Presence. Joseph Opare heard the melody in his sleep one morning and knew it belonged on the album. Drawing on the feel of 1950s R&B singers, he shaped it into an uplifting song with a chorus that would feel at home in church.
Inspired by the biblical account of Peter stepping out of the boat towards the Lord, the song focuses on his courage to try. While people often remember Peter sinking, Joseph draws attention to the step of faith he took while the other disciples stayed behind.
“You’ll see me walking on water” becomes a declaration of faith and possibility—a call to pursue your God-given dreams, even when the first step feels daunting.

“Woke” pairs an Afrobeat groove with a call to stay spiritually alert. Joseph Opare explores the moments when fear and doubt shake our faith, encouraging listeners to hold on to their trust in the Lord and recognise the enemy’s attempts to lead them astray.
For Joseph, that message includes the worries we face about our health: seeking medical help is okay, and faith can remain a source of strength through it all.
Backing vocals from Perly-May Opare, Lileith Mullins and Valerie Robie, singers from Joseph’s former church in Luton, bring a communal spirit to the recording. Rooted in that shared musical moment, “Woke” encourages you to keep your eyes open, stand firm and let hope rise above fear.
